Here’s a synopsis:

My SO had a baby! It’s a boy, named Bryn Youguang. Yes, he’s probably the only Celtic/Chinese named child on the planet. My SO was disappointed on two counts: 1) He was a he not a she. 2) He doesn’t look Chinese at all. He looks like my Aunt Sandra and Grandmother and me. Red hair and fair skin. In other words my Chinese SO gave birth to a German baby.

Before the baby was born I was busy making sure that my SO’s nesting instinct was satisfied. For the past few weeks I’ve been sort of busy lately learning to deal with a baby and still remain sane. It’s been easier than I thought it would be. Bryn is remarkably calm and easy going. He doesn’t even cry unless he’s hungry and that’s only every three or four hours.

So to wrap up, new human in the house. I sort of have a schedule again so I can blog more…

Wednesday she had an ultrasound that estimated the size of her baby at seven and a half pounds. She was shocked. My bet is, since she hasn’t delivered yet, that by the time the child is born he’ll be eight pounds or larger. She kept trying to tell me that since she only weighed 5.5 pounds at birth that our child wouldn’t be large. I told her that do to the protein rich, bone-building diet that she is eating, unlike the green-leafy peasant food her parents ate/eat, this child would be larger. Now she believes me. HA! My current guess for the birth is the 13th or 14th.

I guess that means I’ll start out playing Blossom Dearie and work my way to Led Zepplin.
