Football Fan

November 15th, 2007

John Elway, after living a full life, died. When he got to heaven,
God was showing him around. They came to a modest little house
with a faded Broncos flag in the window. “This house is yours for
eternity, John,” said God. “This is very special; not everyone gets a house
up here.”

John felt special, indeed, and walked up to his house. On his way
up the porch, he noticed another house just around the corner. It was a
3-story mansion with a Green and Gold sidewalk, a 50 foot tall flagpole
with an enormous Packers logo flag, and in every window, a Cheesehead!

John looked at God and said “God, I’m not trying to be
ungrateful, but I have a question. I was an all-pro QB, I won 2 Super Bowls, and I
even went to the Hall of Fame.”

God said “So what do you want to know, John?”

Well, why does Brett Favre get a better house than me?”

God chuckled and said “John, that’s not Brett Favre’s house, it’s
mine.”

3 Modes

September 5th, 2007

It seems that Wiglet (also known as Bryn) has three modes so far:
1) Eat
2) Sleep
3) Tae Kwon Do

When not eating or sleeping he kicks and punches with all four limbs at once for an hour or two at a time.

I’m Back

August 17th, 2007

Well I was sort of busy for the past couple of months. Here’s a synopsis:

My SO had a baby! It’s a boy, named Bryn Youguang. Yes, he’s probably the only Celtic/Chinese named child on the planet. My SO was disappointed on two counts: 1) He was a he not a she. 2) He doesn’t look Chinese at all. He looks like my Aunt Sandra and Grandmother and me. Red hair and fair skin. In other words my Chinese SO gave birth to a German baby.

Before the baby was born I was busy making sure that my SO’s nesting instinct was satisfied. For the past few weeks I’ve been sort of busy lately learning to deal with a baby and still remain sane. It’s been easier than I thought it would be. Bryn is remarkably calm and easy going. He doesn’t even cry unless he’s hungry and that’s only every three or four hours.

So to wrap up, new human in the house. I sort of have a schedule again so I can blog more…

Size Does Matter

June 8th, 2007

Many months ago when I told my SO that most of the boys born to my family were eight pounds or larger she didn’t believe me. Wednesday she had an ultrasound that estimated the size of her baby at seven and a half pounds. She was shocked. My bet is, since she hasn’t delivered yet, that by the time the child is born he’ll be eight pounds or larger. She kept trying to tell me that since she only weighed 5.5 pounds at birth that our child wouldn’t be large. I told her that do to the protein rich, bone-building diet that she is eating, unlike the green-leafy peasant food her parents ate/eat, this child would be larger. Now she believes me. HA! My current guess for the birth is the 13th or 14th.

From High To Low

June 5th, 2007

My life partner and I were attending a baby/birthing class the other day and the woman talking said that infants are more attuned to high sounds at first and then adjust to hearing lower sounds. I guess that means I’ll start out playing Blossom Dearie and work my way to Led Zepplin.
